ABOUT IGAD
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is a Regional Economic Community of seven Member States. It was founded in 1986 to respond to drought and desertification, and revitalised in 1996 with a wider mandate covering food security, peace and security, and regional economic integration.
